From TopTable The College Hotel Restaurant is located within the hotel of the same name - a place that often finds itself on the top of everyone's hot list. The building is a spectacular 19th century school converted into a contemporary boutique hotel perched between the museum district and the shopping delights of the Pijp. It is personably staffed by baking, pastry and hospitality students under the direction of extremely accomplished professionals. The dining room is located in the former gymnasium – large, light and airy – decorated in luxurious, contemporary style. Executive Chef Shilo van Coevorden honours classics from the past with his own creative, mode
perspective. The menus include amuse-bouche, pre-dessert and sweets as well as the normal three, four, or five courses. Dishes include starter of lukewarm smoked eel with radish, apple syrup and lemon, main course of chicken in clay with sage, mushrooms and semolina fries, and dessert of brittle goats cheese with pear syrup, followed by selection of Dutch cookies and chocolates and ‘parade of profiteroles’. The bar has dark, warm colours, black wooden floors, a fireplace and intimate co
ers, a perfect spot to collect yourself before heading in or out. Groups of more than ten can take advantage of several elegant private dining salons.
